Organizing Your Life

Sometimes during the week or even month you may get frazzled or you just feel like you need to refresh. A lot of people need a day to organize their lives whether it is scheduling your week in a planner, or doing your self care routine. Kalyn Nicholson calls this a GYST day which I love the name of that. GYST stands for Get Your Shit Together. I’ve always had a day but I have never had a name for it so all credit goes to Kalyn for that term.

Anyway my day is usually Friday because I spend my weekends with my boyfriend and I don’t really have time to get organized on Sunday like most people tend to do.

There are so many ways to have a day to yourself to get your life in order. I am a list person. I love making lists and it is so satisfying seeing all of your To Do things crossed off. So I would make a list of the things I need to do and I will either make a digital list or write it down in my notebook or planner. (I made a quick example below) I really like my planner because it is supposed to be a family planner for like moms but the layout is really nice because there is a tear out weekly grocery list on one edge of the spread and on that same page is a list of to do's for the week. On the second page of the spread is the full week in view and on the side of it is a menu list so you can plan a food schedule or even just track your meals for the week which is helpful sometimes for me because even though I am not vegan, I am vegetarian, I want to try to make my weeks as healthy and full of vegan food.

Another way I keep organized is with my dry erase calendar. I keep it hung up next to my door and I use it mainly to visualize what bills I need to pay. If I just kept my schedule in my planner I know that I will not look at it to make sure I am on time with things so I need to have it in my face. It is really easy to just glance on a Friday and see "oh I need to pay my phone bill and a credit card today" and then I will go and pay those things.
